Co-design

Why/when should I use co-design?

Put simply, co-design is a method of working together to solve problems.

The "co" stands for "collaborative" and the "design" signals that there will be creative thinking and an output at the end (not just discussion).

Co-design is an extremely useful way to ensure that what you are designing matches what the users of that product or service actually want and need. It a good approach any time you are trying to solve a problem with and for people who have different perspectives and opinions.

What if I'm not ready / don't have the time or money for "pure" co-design?

The reality is that while 'pure' co-design may be the ideal that we are working towards, often we have constraints (time, money, resources) that mean we can't do everything we would like. Our perspective is that every organisations can do some form of co-design, but you need to be realistic about where on the continuum you currently lie, so that you can set expectations accordingly.

How do you offer so many diverse services with such a small team?How are you different from the "big agencies"?

Pretty simple - we're way cheaper, faster, more flexible and have loads more personality! You'll find our rates are very competitive while still delivering you the highest quality result. Our approach is to develop a long-term relationship with you so we understand what's important to you and what you need from us.

We're also not precious or pretentious - we invite you to genuinely participate in the design work and will take your feedback seriously.

Oh - and we also hate jargon and meetings (especially when they're called workshops - which they're NOT!)

As a small agency, will you have enough capacity to support my project?

We're small but mighty! We regularly manage multi-million dollar projects with multitudes of stakeholders and complexity. That's one of our superpowers - wrangling cats and keeping projects on track to meet budget and deadlines.

But don't take our word for it. We're happy to provide references for other large projects we've successfully completed.

Do you only take on big projects or can I just ask for a little illustration or design too?

No project is too small! We're happy to help with any small jobs you might have, and as we get to know each other, you might discover other ways we can help you, too.
